Randy Mathenia,
Director of Music Ministries
Randy is the Director of Music
Ministries, Worship Coordinator,
and Operations Coordinator at
Northside United Methodist
Church. Randy was born in
Blytheville, Arkansas; however,
moved to Memphis Tennessee at
the age of 7. Memphis became his
home.
Randy graduated from Memphis
State University, now known as
the University of Memphis, with
a Bachelor of Music degree –
Vocal Performance, Choral
Conducting, Sacred Music
emphases. Randy had the
privilege of being the student
conductor of the University
Singers, a 70 voice elite choral
group. Upon graduation Randy
worked with several churches in
the Memphis area helping to
build Christian based music
programs. Randy moved to the
Jackson area in 1985 and began
working as a General Manager in
a family owned manufacturing
facility. In 1991, he became the
part time Director of Music at
Northside United Methodist
Church where his wife had begun
playing the piano in 1989. Randy
became full time with the church
in June of 2003, accepting
additional responsibilities
which allowed him to use life
skills learned to assist in the
day to day operations of the
church.
Randy will tell you that he
always sees a little bit of
heaven through the eyes of those
who find God’s grace and hope
especially when music is
involved. Randy has 4 boys that
are musically gifted, and have
grown up at Northside Methodist.
Randy gives thanks to God every
day for allowing him to be in a
church where he can serve and
give back to God the gifts he
has so graciously given
